Monemvasia
A special place that we would recommend to
every visitor to the Peloponnese is without a
doubt Monemvasia.
This town is located in the southeast of the
Peloponnese on the Aegean coast and is cal-
led “the Gibraltar of the East” because it bears
similarities with the real Gibraltar.
Monemvasia is located on a high rocky penin-
sula that is connected by a narrow strip and a
bridge to the mainland of the Lakonia
department
Areopoli
Areopoli is a picturesque town that attracts
many tourists.
The old town is beautiful, you will find traditio-

In Diros are the famous caves of the same
name, the museum of Diros and a white pebble
beach.
Diros is located south of Areopoli (11 km), 91 km
from Kalamata and 36 km from Gythion.
The caves of Diros are two: Vlychada and

These caves are among the most beautiful and
largest in all of Greece. Remains from the
Paleolithic and Neolithic periods have been
found in the caves

It is a picturesque seaside town.
Limeni is arguably the most beautiful coastal
village in the Mani and the entire region.
It has no beach at all, yet it is extremely popu-
lar as a beach resort.
Mystras
One of the most interesting sights on the
Peloponnese peninsula is without a doubt
Mystras.
Mystras is today an abandoned town five kilo-
meters northwest of Sparta, in the Lakonia
department.
There was a period in the Middle Ages when
as many as 40,000 people lived here.
Neapoli Molaoi
Porto Kagio
It is the most southern city in the Peloponnese.
Neapoli was not founded until the middle of
the 19th century after the country gained
independence from Ottoman rule.
South of Neaploi is the island of Kythira,
here you can go by
ferry from Neapoli.
Porto Kagio is a picturesque coastal village.
It is located on a small bay 5 km north of
Cape Tainaros, the southernmost point of the
entire Balkan peninsula (mainland). The
name comes from the Venetian Porto
Quaglio and the French Port des Cailles
(Harbor of quail).
Here you can eat delicious fresh fish with
your feet in the water.
Elafonisos
Elafonisos is a small island close to the town
of Neapoli and can be reached by ferry
from the harbor of Vigklavia.
